At our home

Our history

The building was designed by the brothers Axel and Hjalmar Kumlien, the architects behind the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, on behalf of the mill owner Carl Edward Ekman. Året var 1874 och han ville helt enkelt ge en gåva till dottern Anna Gustafva Ekman och hennes make Knut Henning Geselius von Schéele. When Professor von Scheele was later appointed bishop of Visby, the villa was sold to the Uppsala Medical Association. Between the years 1879-1942 it housed the Kalmar Nation, the Medical Association’s library and the Christian girls’ school Lindska Skolan. The house was eventually purchased by the cathedral parish and was used as a parish hall for both the cathedral parish and the parish of the Holy Trinity. Since 1660, the area around Villa Anna has been known as Odinslund and the avenue, which was laid out by botanist Carl von Linné, is one of Uppsala’s oldest walking paths.

Today the house is owned by the real estate company MIAB Förvaltning. Those who cherish old cultural buildings and have renovated the soulful house with flair and knowledge.
